Job Description The Role: You'll join a top-flight legal team of a dynamic publicly traded technology company and serve as the team's senior lead for patent and strategic intellectual property (IP) litigation and transactional matters, with additional responsibilities spanning regulatory, commercial and other areas.  The ideal candidate has a strong background in patent litigation (particularly software) as well as in drafting and negotiating technology agreements but also seeks opportunities to diversify his/her practice.  This position is expected to serve as the Legal team's principal liaison to MicroStrategy's Technology team, working closely with the Tech team and its executives on patent harvesting matters, vendor and partner relationships, innovation and training initiatives, etc.  On the litigation side, the role will advise management on potential and pending disputes, developing and implementing litigation strategy, managing all aspects of discovery, supporting internal investigations, and coordinating with outside counsel.  Responsibilities will include other areas as needed.  Strong candidates exhibit strong communication and collaboration skills, proactivity, analytical thoroughness, a penchant for project management, persuasive writing, and creative and strategic thinking.  These qualities will be critical as you guide the business through the challenges of adversarial and commercial matters.     Responsibilities: Collaborate regularly with Technology team to provide timely and expert legal advice on product development, patents, regulatory issues, and IP protection Draft and negotiate strategic technology development and IP licensing agreements Manage, direct and provide oversight of company litigation matters particularly patent lawsuits, including pre-litigation dispute resolution, active litigation, preparation and review of pleadings and other court documents, and advice to management on strategy and resolution of cases Represent the company in arbitration, mediation, and settlement negotiations Oversee e-discovery processes and assist in all aspects of discovery Assist in the selection of outside counsel and provide direct oversight and management of outside counsel budgets and staffing Draft, implement, and provide training on company policies and best practices such as document retention, service of process, and other relevant areas  Conduct and/or supportinternal investigations Perform risk assessments and coordinate with other business partners on insurance and indemnification issues Qualifications Key Requirements: J.D. from top tier law school and 7+ years of litigation experience with a reputable law firm and/or in-house department In-house experience and computer science background preferred Significant experience in patent (software related) litigation and technology agreements including software licensing Experience with e-discovery issues, including document retention and the collection, review, and production of documents Superior writing, advocacy, collaboration and negotiation skills Willingness and ability to quickly become proficient in new areas of legal practice Ability to interact with senior business executives Ability to manage fast-paced workload and add value to multiple projects simultaneously Self-starter who shows project ownership and enjoys working across departments Additional Information MicroStrategy is an equal employment and affirmative action employer F/M/Disability/Vet.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
