Co-op Intern (Virginia Tech Students)

Responsibilities:

  • General Summary:

    • Perform analysis for government clients using a wide variety of technical skills.
    • Work closely with full time consultants on all aspects of the consulting process.
    • Be an integral member of a project team and, in successive rotations, accept increasing responsibility
    • Opportunity to work on multiple projects with a wide variety of topics and skills.

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Have the opportunity to use and be trained in a wide variety of data analysis tools including SAS, SQL, R, Excel and Python to meet the client s needs.
    • Conduct research, marketplace analysis and price modeling to assist in the business development process.
    • Support and review government databases to support clarity and integrity of data metrics
    • Work on longterm projects to automate and improve analytic tools used frequently internally and externally.

Qualifications

    • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

      • Must be a student currently enrolled at Virginia Tech
      • Must be a candidate for an undergraduate degree (in operations research, industrial engineering, logistics, systems engineering, applied mathematics, supply chain management, economics, or a related major).
      • Must have declared a major.
      • 2. 5 GPA or better.
      • Superior communication skills, both oral and written.
      • Applicants selected for this position may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance. For this position, LMI will only consider applicants with security clearances or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.
      • Be available for occasional travel.
    • Other Information:

      • Co-Ops will need to provide their own transportation to and from work and locate and arrange for their own housing.
      • All Co-Op positions at LMI are paid positions.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
