Assistant Financial Controller


Responsible for managing and overseeing the daily activities of the accounts payable and accounts receivable team and supporting the organization?s growth initiatives. The major functions of this team include program sales tracking, accounts receivable, prime invoicing, tax reporting, financial analysis for new and existing lines of business and accounts payable. Key player in financial analysis for the NPA Recommendation process and costing and reporting when SourceAmerica is prime. The Assistant Financial Controller will contribute to maintaining the organization?s financial records, preparing and distributing financial reports and interfacing with SourceAmerica?s independent auditors for areas of responsibilities.



  • Supervise the day to day activities of the revenue and payment accounting teams, whose functions include program sales tracking, accounts receivable, accounts payable and billings. Oversee this team?s use of the accounting systems, including assist in its administration, maintenance and testing and requirements related to these teams.

  • Monitor the accounting policies, processes and procedures under your or your team?s responsibilities to ensure they remain current and adequate and that necessary documentation and internal controls are in place to assure the appropriateness and accuracy of financial transactions.

  • Review select vendor invoices for reasonable business purpose, proper coding, etc. prior to payment and review related procurement documents (purchase orders and contracts) prior to payments to vendors. Review select billings and credits for accuracy and completeness.

  • Review monthly program sales reports, accounts receivable reports and commissions received and billing reports, to ensure proper and timely revenue reporting. Ensure proper payments for loans and commission receivables and recommend and facilitate the creation of payback agreements with customers as needed.

  • Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of the Prime accruals of revenue and cost of goods sold.

  • Prepare and/or supervise the preparation of materials (support documents or reports) for the SourceAmerica Board, annual audit of SourceAmerica?s financial statements, tax filings, Cooperative Agreement reporting, quarterly omnibus submission and executive reviews for areas of responsibilities or as needed.

  • Provide financial analysis and develop pro forma financials (and performance against the same) for new lines of business.

  • Assist the pricing teams which include contract management and operations for price development for the submission of SourceAmerica as Prime contracts and review sub-contractor pricing submissions for accuracy and compliance to the RFP.

  • Prepare the annual insurance applications and work with the broker to ensure SourceAmerica is provided the best coverage available.

  • Participate in the selection, development and testing of new business systems and upgrades to ensure data integrity with the SourceAmerica financial system(s).

  • Conduct visits to NPAs and SourceAmerica field offices to review financial records as necessary.

  • Assist the Controller and Chief Financial Officer with development of the annual budget as necessary.

  • Perform additional duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • CPA preferred.

  • Proven experience as assistant controller or other similar position.

  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations.

  • Government contract accounting experience a plus.

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, especially Excel.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy a must.

  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting.

  • Experience in implementing new business systems.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.

  • Experience preparing for and participating in Financial Audits.

  • Ability to travel if necessary.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
