Network Security Engineer Job

Network Security Engineer (Job Number:434844) Description: SAIC is currently seeking candidates for a Network Security Engineer to support a Federal Civilian agency in Vienna., VA This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a key team of cyber security professionals here at SAIC, providing technical assistance and expertise in developing and deploying security components protecting against inside and external threats for our client. We are seeking an individual that can bring in-depth network security architecture and systems engineering expertise to support both daily operations and help grow and mature the current cyber security environment we support. As a Network Security Engineer, your technical leadership will influence major projects and complex systems that help define the client-s modernization programs. You will provide technical support and guidance to core and matrix resources, analyzing current systems/architectures and developing differentiated solutions that address customer requirements. Additionally, you will help design, test, and secure operating systems, implement network security tools, support the Security Operation Center (SOC), and manage IT security systems and applications. It is expected that you will be able to research, evaluate, and recommend new security tools, techniques, and technologies and introduce them to the enterprise in alignment with IT security strategy working closely with project management staff. This role is expected to be highly project driven and could potentially contribute to the development of new projects including the evaluation and implementation of several new tools. Job Responsibilities: - Act as the technical lead on complex security engineering projects. - Planning, designing and implementing security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks, and Personally Identifiable Information (PII). - Determine security requirements by evaluating business strategies. - Develop documentation including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Visio diagrams. - Evaluate existing technical capabilities and systems and identify opportunities for improvement. - Ability to mentor and coach less experienced security engineers. - Excellent customer service and organization skills; ability to maintain cooperating working relationships. - Conduct -after action- reviews to identify and document lessons learned and best practices. - Research and test new security tools/products and make recommendations of tools to be implemented in the environment. - Work closely with project managers to ensure proper reporting of project activities and status as well as proactively escalating issues. - Work collaboratively and proactively with the Operations resources assigned to the same projects. #DISL #network #cyber Qualifications: Required Education and Experience: - Bachelor-s degree or higher in a technical field such as Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, etc. - US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance. (Note: A active DOD clearance cannot be utilized for this role.) - 8+ years of networking and/or security engineering experience. - Planning, designing and implementing security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks, and Personally Identifiable Information (PII). - Experience with network and log-centric analysis and logic development using a Security Event and Incident Management (SIEM). - Hands on experience with security solutions including but not limited to firewalls, proxies, intrusion detection systems (IDS), data loss prevention (DLP) and Malware Analysis device. - Knowledge of network-based and system-level attacks and mitigation methods. - Experience with vulnerability scanning, antivirus & malware analysis. - Understanding of FISMA and NIST standards. - Experience configuring switches and routers. - Ability to examine and interpret packet capture data (Wireshark, tcpdump, etc.). - Strong understanding of IP communication and routing protocols including BGP, OSPF and EIGRP. - Experience in developing technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks. - Strong understanding of security architectures and devices. - Ability to communicate IT, networking, and security concepts to personnel at all levels of experience and responsibility. - Strong time management and multitasking skills as well as attention to detail. - Experience working with multiple high priority tasks simultaneously. - Comfortable identifying and defining system security requirements. - Excellent oral and written communications skills, including writing comprehensive reports and white papers. - Relevant network or security certifications (CCNP, CCNA, CISSP, GCIA, GCIH, GREM, CEH, etc.). - Senior level documentation and project management skills. Desired Experience: - Experience with Splunk, Palo Alto, Check Point, Blue Coat, F5 and Brocade switches. - Working knowledge of vulnerabilities and exploits. - Experience with web application firewalls and proxies. - VOIP phone System Management and Security. - Experience with one or more scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, Perl, etc.). - Understanding of the DHS Trusted Internet Connection (TIC). - Working knowledge of cloud technology. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
