Senior Director, Quality Engineering

We are in search of a strong technical and people leader for our Quality Engineering function based out of Tysons, Virginia.
The Quality Engineering Leader is a newly created role that will be responsible for leading the quality engineering function and performance including feature testing, test automation and capacity testing across multiple software and hardware teams and improving quality in all aspects of the development process. This role is ideal for candidates who have a history of championing and impacting quality and testing efficacy across an array of products and who can bring best practices to the function. This role will require deep passion around consumer products and user experience and will operate in a highly collaborative and matrixed organization including driving relationships with Product, R&D, Field Engineering and Technical Support teams. The ideal candidate will be experienced with and energized by inspiring, leading and mentoring Quality Engineers and developing the Quality Engineering organization, processes, and systems for optimal performance.
Partner with Technology & cross functional teams to foster and execute a team based approach to high quality development and launches
Drive appropriate changes in process and remove impediments to ensure high quality deliverables
Work hands-on to develop and execute both strategic and tactical plans of action with respect to staff organization, technical roadmaps, and tool effectiveness in order to meet longer-term objectives and shorter-term product delivery plans
Identify and implement improvements in processes, tools and test automation to ensure high quality and scalability for releases and drive a culture of continuous improvement
Implement, gather and report on team and project based metrics to track business value
Accountable for the quality of test activities during the release of products to production
Direct, lead and inspire Quality Engineering teams to achieve defined goals through motivation, mentoring, coaching, process innovation, team building and providing the necessary training opportunities
Provide career development plans, technical leadership, and actionable feedback to the managers and other employees in your organization, so that they're growing and our team continues improving in effectiveness and consumer product success
Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or related field desired
7+ years of Quality Engineering and Software Testing experience
3+ years leadership experience in Quality Engineering and Software Testing, preferably managing mid to large size teams or managing smaller teams in complex technical & matrixed environments
Experience, success and passion for building, motivating, leading and coaching high performing teams to achieve organizational objectives
Self-starter, analytical, a naturally curious and tenacious problem solver
Proven effective communication, organization, time management, interpersonal and management skills; Ability to effectively communicate to customers, peers, managers and upper management
Passion for working with technology and excitement for creating high quality consumer technology products

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
